 Acorn Hedge Cottage Our comfortable self catering cottage is nestled on the side of Betws Mountain only about 1 mile from Ammanford on the opposite side to the famous Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons. There are no dirt tracks to go down making it easy to get to.

At the side of the Cottage is a public walk which brings you to a small cascading Waterfall and if you wish then you can carry on the small walk back on to the road. Remember to bring your wellingtons though!
The Cottage is ideal for couples and families alike. Walking or biking is right on the doorstep and it is just over a mile to get to the top of Betws Mountain and enjoy the breathtaking views over the valleys and the Black Mountains. On the way up or down you can stop for refreshment and/or a great meal at the Scotch Pine where you can again have fantastic views overlooking the Amman Valley.

This lovely Welsh stone cottage is in a country setting and yet only a mile from the nearest town. There is off road parking. You enter the property via the porch which then takes you into the living/dining room with its exposed beams and also accomodates the stairs. The spacious living/dining room has settee and leather sofa bed along with TV and DVD and Freeview TV. There is a choice of DVD'S, books, and Games. The seperate kitchen is off the living area and has everything you require for your self catering holiday including cooker, fridge, microwave as well as cutlery, crockery etc. The kitchen has French doors leading you into the cottage garden where there is a small patio with table and chairs. Upstairs you will find the bedroom with a double bed along with the ensuite fully tiled shower room which has power shower. A travel cot is available but not the bedding.

The accomodation has a TV and DVD player with a small selection of DVD's. There is a cd player and a radio. The garden has a small patio and garden chairs and table for the lovely evenings when you can relax after a day of sightseeeing, cycling, horse riding, golf, or maybe a day down the beach or looking around the National botanical gardens or some other beautiful gardenas well as a a whole lot more.

The property is available all year round. The cottage is available for weekends as well as mid-week along with the full week. Changeover day is on Friday for the full and weekend but we are flexible depending on other bookings.

Pounds sterling is the acceptable currency but will consider euros A non refunable deposit is required, one third of the full balance, this is to be paid when booking. The balance is then required at 8 weeks before your vacation. booking is for the accommodation and not the person. If you book for 2 weeks you can have a 10% discount.

There are many medieval castles in the area within easy drive of the cottage including Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr and Kidwelly, just to mention a few.
Staying on the historical line there are a variety of Museums such as the Maritme Museum in Swansea.
If you like exploring gardens the National Botanical Garden of Wales is within easy reach of the cottage. It has a beautiful Glasshouse with numerous plants from around the world.
Aberglassney gardens offers the magic of the past with its main house steeped in history whilst the gardens hava a formal touch and offer a variety of focal points including the Cloister Garden and The Yew Tunnel .
We also have a few parks such as Gelli Aur where you can see wildlife such as deer, peacocks & squirrels etc. & not to mention the wonderful blooms of the rhododendrons and azaleas in April/May. There is also a cafe and a small children's play area.

The cottage is approximately 6 miles away from the end of the M4 motorway and there are no dirt tracks to go up, we are easy to find

There are a few Indian restauranrs in the town nearby as well as a Cantonese at the bottom of the road as well as a lovely pub about a mile up the mountain with lovely views of the valley. In Swansea there is the Theatre, ten pin bowling, the Plantasia and the cinema just to mention just a few ideas.

There are a few Golf courses in the area, Horse riding whether you are proficient or not they will cater for your needs, also at the riding school there is Clay pigeon shooting. If you like to ramble or walk there are plenty of mountains in the area for you to enjoy. If you enjoy cycling you can bring your bikes and go to Pembrey park or the Mumbles just to mention a few. Golf in Carmarthenshire Carmarthenshire golf is, according to its local courses, as good as it gets. Carmarthenshire boasts a variety of 9 and 18 holes courses to suit all abilities and challenge both the accomplished player and the novice. All courses offer affordable golf a warm welcome and stunning scenery to enhance the game. All within easy reach of each other are a wide array of different types of course, each with its own unique offering. A new Childrens Play Centre with Ice Skating Rink has just opened only 15 minutes away by car

We have many Castles, in Carmarthenshire including Carreg Cennen, Dinefwr Castle and Kidweely just to mention a few. Then we have the beautiful cascading waterfalls like Aberdulais Falls near Neath. Gorgeous gardens including the National Botanical garden of Wales as well as Aberglasney and Gelli Aur where you can catch the Rhododendrons and the Azaleas in full bloom as well as the Handkerchief tree. You can also espy the deer and the peacocks while your there. there is also a small playing area for children as well as a cafe. The Mumbles is about half an hour away and the Gower coastline is a little further with Rhossili beach where you can relax or enjoy the waves on a surf board or paraglide off the cliffs. We have Dan-yr-Ogof caves too and much more.
