The main farmhouse dates back to the times of Bonnie Prince Charlie and there are records of an extension to the original building in 1750.
The Stable cottage dates back to about 1850 and was originally used to house peat ponies and latterly working Clydesdale horses.

Stable cottage is stonebuilt farm outbuilding which offer high quality modern facilities in a truly picturesque and tranquil environment. The cottage has views of loch Voil, the Braes of Balquhidder and meadows of grazing sheep.

Designed to accommodate a wheelchair, Stable cottage has one twin bedroom, one double bedroom, shower room suitable for a wheelchair shower and a large combined kitchen/diner and living room.

Ample parking is available. Garden furniture and barbecue facilities are provided.

It is with regret that we are unable to accommodate dogs, except guide dogs.

Horses can be kept in an adjacent field during summer months and livery can be arranged at a local farm during winter.

Activities

During your stay we will be pleased to advise you of any events occurring locally, where to go and what to see, if you have any special requests please do not hesitate to ask.

For the walker and mountaineer the choice is vast, Balquhidder in its central location is an ideal base to explore the Bens and climb the Munros of Scotland.

For the golfer there are courses at Callander, Killin, St Fillans, Comrie and Crieff (all within a half hour drive)

For the horse rider you can bring your own horse by arrangement or you can visit the equestrian centre at Crieff.

For watersports there is a centre at Loch Earn.

For the nature lover, wildlife abounds. There is an otter which plays in the loch, a pine marten which raids the bird table and deer can be seen in front of the cottages early in the morning.

For the tourist, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Oban and Perth are all within one and a half hours by car.

There are two mountain bike hire shops in Callander and a cycle path from Callander to Balquhidder along a disused railway line along the side of Loch Lubnaig.

Local stalking and shooting are available by arrangement.
