Holiday Home in Mangawhai

The property is vast and tranquil, set in 10 acres of new native plantings. It overlooks a pond that attracts bird life. It is also a five minute drive from Te Arai Point and Mangawhai Forest, which provides one of the most secluded and untouched beaches in New Zealand. It is well worth a few days stop-over en route to the Bay of Islands, or as a place to rest on arrival in New Zealand before venturing on further, being only a short drive from Auckland Airport. Alternatively it would be an ideal place to escape the Northern winter and perhaps experience your first Christmas on the beach! I will gladly meet you at Auckland Airport or at the property itself to help you on your way.

The bedroom comprises the entire loft floor of 70sq.m - there is a Queen-sized bed, and a single day bed, for relaxing, or if travelling with children. There is also a sofa bed in the lounge area by the fireplace, and a Queen-sized futon.

The bath is large (designed for two) and deep, set in Italian porcelain and river-stone surrounds - ideal for relaxing at the end of a busy day. The toilet is separate and located next to the bathroom. There is also an outdoor shower.

There is a large gas cooker, including a wok burner. There is a small under bench fridge, and separate freezer. Granite benches provide ample work-space.

Utility Room with a large capacity washing machine and separate laundry tub in the kitchen area.

The living is open plan, but the lounge area is separated by the staircase. It contains a Queen-sized sofa and futon by the fireplace which is supplied with ample firewood for your stay. There is a dining area seating up to 8 and a second lounge area.

The dining and lounge areas have windows which open on to a large deck, from which can be enjoyed the expansive rural views. The upstairs loft room opens on to a balcony with French doors opening to look over the pond.

Two bath towels per guest and linen for three Queen-sized, and one single bed is provided.

A phone number will be provided if cleaning-service is required, and this will be an extra charge. Otherwise all cleaning equipment and products are provided.

The property is completely fenced and set in ten acres of farm-land, including many suitable places for picnics.

Although a heater is provided it is recommended that guests light the fire, which has ample firewood, and heats the entire cottage quickly and efficiently. Because of the terracotta floors I do not recommend the cottage as suitable for young children, who could fall and hurt themselves. It is in essence a romantic environment suiting more mature couples who can appreciate the advantages of peace and quiet - children are not specifically provided for.

There a various beautiful beaches within 5 minutes drive - the Ocean beach, which has ample picnic facilities, a patrolled surf beach in the Summer, at the end of which is a stunning coastal walk. The harbour can be accessed from many places. It provides wonderful, sometimes secluded swimming spots, the opportunity to gather sea-food and kayaks can be hired to spend the day kayaking the harbour and discovering its many delights.

Golf
The golf course is 5 minutes drive away, and is very popular with golfers.
