 Castagni d'Oro B & B is a beautiful 17th century Tuscan villa in a hilltop village above the spa town of Bagni di Lucca, in the lush green hills near Lucca. This part of Tuscany, known as the Garfagnana, is famous for fast-flowing rivers rushing through dramatic gorges between steep tree-clad hillsides, rich in wildlife such as deer, wild boar, porcupines and eagles.

Castagni d'Oro is a 350-year old stone house with thick stone walls, huge chestnut beams, terracotta floors and green shutters to keep the rooms cool when the summer heat is on.
The house has never been ruined or restored and so appears much as it has throughout the centuries, apart from little modern additions such as double glazing, central heating and electricity!

The guest accommodation consists of two large guestrooms, simply decorated but comfortably furnished with double or twin beds, high quality bed-linen, blankets and quilts.
Also, bedside tables and lights, table and chairs, clothes hanging space and chests of drawers. Two spare single beds available. Also cot and high chair.
LCD TVs with British satellite reception, kettles with tea, coffee and biscuits. En-suites have showers, basins and toilets, and luxury towels and hair-dryers are provided in both rooms. Complimentary toiletries included.
Guests can also use the sitting room with wide-screen TV, DVD, stereo and in winter, a log-fire.

There are two comfortably furnished guest rooms, with en-suite shower rooms.
British TV, tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits are provided in the rooms. We can provide occasional evening meals and packed lunches if required.
Secure, dry storage of motorbikes, bikes, ski equipment, walking poles, boots, etc. in garage and car parking in private driveway.
Sun-trap terrace is great for relaxing with a cooling drink and the garden is flat and level with fantastic mountain views and ideal for topping up your tan.

There are several National Parks in the area providing walkers and cyclists with spectacular mountains to climb and for artists to paint. There are even places where you can jump off them... using a hang-glider of course!
Although immersed in the green countryside, Castagni d'Oro is only 45 minutes' from the famous Medieval walled city of Lucca, ideal for sightseeing and restaurants
45 minutes in the other direction is the major skiing centre of Abetone, with dozens of lifts and pulls, scores of slopes of all grades and several ski-schools.
Sandy beaches are just an hour away at the Art deco town of Viareggio.

Although a car is recommended to get the best out this mountainous region, it is possible to visit cities such as Lucca and Florence by public transport. We can collect you from and deliver you to Pisa airport for €50 each way, and to and from Bagni di Lucca for €5 each way.
