| About the Area: |
The village of Ballinure is old and quaint with only a handful of houses on the crossroads which link Cashel with Kilkenny on the famous " Bianconi Route ", the first organized transport route in the world. The well located in the centre of the front area beside the stables was used extensively by Bianconis Coachmen to quench the thirst of their hard working horses. Nowadays the area immediately surrounding the cottage is noted as some of the most beautiful and rich farming and nearby the world famous "Cashel Blue Cheese" is created. It is a wonderful rich farming land - Below is the world famous "Rock of Cashel", just six kilometres away in Cashel.

The Cashel Rock. The Rock of Cashel is one of the most spectacular archeological sites in Ireland. It towers over the town of Cashel on a large mound of limestone bristling with ancient fortifications. Mighty stone walls encircle a complete round tower, a roofless abbey, a 12th century Romanesque chapel as well as an eclectic range of celtic monuments and high crosses. The Swiss Cottage. A delightful "cottage orne'" built in the early 1800s by Richard Butler, 1st Earl of Glengall, to a design by the famous Regency architect John Nash. Its interior contains a graceful spiral staircase and some elegantly decorated rooms. The wallpaper in the Salon manufactured by the Dufour factory is one of the first commercially produced Parisian wallpapers. Situated on an elevated site with access by stone steps.
Bru Boru Cultural Centre. Brú Ború is a cultural and heritage centre situated beside the Rock of Cashel in Cashel town. The aim of the centre is to celebrate Irish tradition, in particular it's music, song and dance. During the summer months the resident musicians and performers present an excellent show each evening from Tuesday to Saturday in the 250 seat theatre. There are also more informal music sessions each night.
Cashel Heritage Centre. The Heritage Centre invites you to investigate the rich heritage of Cashel, one of Ireland's most significant Ecclesiastical Centres dating to before St. Patrick. It provides the visitor with a series of changing exhibitions, a large- scale model of Cashel in the 1640's, highlighting the lesser-known treasures of the town. The Charters of Cashel, King Charles II 1663 and James II 1687 are also on permanent display.
Cashel Folk Village. A delightful series of informal reconstructions of various traditional thatched village shops, a forge, and other businesses, together with a penal Chapel situated in a confined area within the town of Cashel, near to the famous Rock Of Cashel.
