The Garrison Bar & Restaurant formerly Sean's Bar - Main Street, Leighlinbridge We liked our local pub so much that we bought it and now we have opened an excellent restaurant to complement the Holiday Centre
You'll find the Garrison Restaurant adjacent to Garrison House so there's no problem getting home after a few relaxing drinks in the friendly atmosphere of our own pub & restaurant.
We have a large hot tub installed within the grounds, set in a traditional log cabin, enabling up to 7 people to enjoy a relaxing soak. A hot tub is much more than a simple extravagance. The therapeutic benefits of hydrotherapy are well documented and can relieve symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis, insomnia, backache and anxiety - not to mention the effects of a stenuous round of golf or a horse riding expedition.
Enjoy the fresh air and unspoiled natural beauty in this truly authentic part of rural Ireland. There are many activities to choose from and, should it rain, we are conveniently situated between Carlow Town and Kilkenny City, with their cinemas, swimming pools and excellent pubs, restaurants & shopping. We are in comfortable driving distance of Counties Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, Laois and Wicklow. Guides & leaflets available onsite.

Hill Walking. A walker’s paradise, County Carlow is home to three of Ireland’s key national walking routes – The South Leinster, The Wicklow and the Barrow Way which links with the Slieve Margy Way in Co. Laois. Enjoy the invigorating challenge of Carlow’s mountain treks or find peace and tranquillity on quiet country routes. Combine this with clean, fresh air, knowledgeable local guides, excellent accommodation and traditional home cooked fare for a revitalising break.
Angling on the River Barrow The River Barrow is a unique recreational fishery, facilitating both game and coarse angling. The Barrow also supports a fishery for twaite shad and plays host to a prestigious international shad fishing competition. The Barrow is renowned as a game and coarse angling river for salmon, brown trout, roach, rudd, pike, perch and tench with easy access to all parts of the river from the Barrow footpath. The excellent stocks of quality pike are one of the main attractions for anglers on the River Barrow, with abundant stocks of 20lbs.
Good trout fishing can be enjoyed at a number of locations on the river and its tributaries. The area behind the Dolmen Hotel in Carlow has enhanced fishing in this stretch. Between Goresbridge and Graiguenamanagh and at Milford the fishing can be very good and trout of up to 2lbs can be caught. Below the weir in St. Mullins the trout are small (.5lb) but plentiful.
Boating. Garrison Waterside Holiday Centre holidays include the use of a "day boat" with each house, giving the visitor the unique opportunity to explore in comfort the stunning river Barrow and Navigation Canal scenery. These small boats have a covered cabin and steering wheel so make cruising the river a pleasure - whatever your level of experience. Why not take your boat downstream for a leisurely cruise. A fuel charge of €20 is made for use of boat.
