It is situated on the edge of the village of Amaliapolis about 7 mins walk from a sandy beach and the village centre. This flat is on the second floor of the villa and is self contained. It has one twin bedroom with air conditioning, a bathroom with full bath with shower attachment, an open plan living/dining area with small double sofa bed for 2 and well equipped kitchen facilities. Thie living room has the benefit of a ceiling fan. Several balconies, one of which is divided between this apartment and the next door one, help to make the most of the wonderful sun. The location of Amaliapolis onthe east coast of Greece makes it a great base for seeing some of the sites of the mainland such as Meteora and Delphi. Amaliapolis is roughly midway between Athens and Thessaloniki and so well situated for exploring mainland Greece, including the monasteries of Meteora, classical Delphi and other archaeological sites in Magnesia and beyond. There are flights to Nea Anchialos Volos Airport (13km) March-October with Air Berlin and Ryanair or else you can fly to Athens or Thessaloniki with a a large choice of carriers and then drive on the E75 motorway to the nearby motorway junction at Sourpi. Alternatively you can reach the village using the long distance buses from Athens or Thessaloniki and local buses or taxi. |

In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, several of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. The village also has two bakeries and two general stores. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. In high season there are 2 lively beach bars which stay open until late. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by. |

As well as the village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras. Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos. The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.
If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km).
