Enjoy your holidays at this comfortable flat, featured in New York Times Travel Section!
100 yards from the Tower Hill tube station & 3 minutes from Tower Gateway DLR, this flat is the ideal base from which to explore London!
Due to the flat's proximity to the tube station, you can hop on & quickly be near any major attraction in central London: Buckingham Palace, Churchill's War Rooms, Whitehall, Parliament, Big Ben, Kensington Palace, etc.
Across the street is All Hallows by the Tower, a 1,500 year old church in which William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized as an infant, & John Quincy Adams, America’s 6th President & son of John Adams, was married in 1797. Tours of the church, offered free of charge, reveal among other things a 2,000 year old Roman road, part of the ancient Roman city of “Londinium”, that ran underneath the church's present site.
A wide variety of pubs & restaurants is within a 1-2 minute walk, & if you are willing to walk 5 minutes, a seeming endless supply. Also nearby (meaning a 15 minute walk or less) is St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, St Katherine's Dock, Shad Thames (riverwalk area with more restaurants & pubs), London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market, Sir Francis Drake's ship The Golden Hinde, & Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.
This flat is perfect for a single, couple, or small family, having a microwave, oven & stove, fridge & freezer, coffee maker, clothing washer & dryer, TV & DVD player, DVD library (40-50 movies), CD/tape player/radio, CD music library, small book library (about 40 books), & wi-fi.
There is a double bed upstairs, as well as a £200 double size Aero-Bed available for guests' use, and a very large, comfy sofa which is six foot two inches between armrests & which makes up nicely into a twin bed if desired. (However, I need to say that the 5 person maximum really means 2 parents & 3 kids - the flat is just too small to be used by 5 adults

| About the Area: |
Located in 'The City' or financial district, the area is considered very safe, even for walking around late at night. Just across the street, in addition to the Tower of London & Tower Bridge, is All Hallows by the Tower, a 1,500 year old church that has import for American as well as British history – William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania, was baptized in the church as an infant, & John Quincy Adams, America’s 6th President & son of John Adams, America’s 2nd President, was married there in 1797. Tours of the church, which are offered free of charge, reveal among other things a 2,000 year old Roman road, part of the ancient Roman city of “Londinium”, that ran underneath the present site of the church.
There are many pubs & restaurants within a 1-2 minute walk. The Hung, Drawn & Quartered Pub is just across Great Tower Street next to All Hallows (church). There are 3 other British pubs, a French restaurant (Chez Gerard), a Spanish restaurant, an Asian noodle place, a pizza/pasta restaurant, & a Subway sandwich shop all within a lazy 1-2 minute walk. If you're willing to walk a bit further, you will find a seemingly endless supply of restaurants.
One not to miss is Dickens Inn (a former hanging ground for pirates) at St Katherine's Docks. The docks also host a marina and many quaint cafes, shops & restaurants of all price ranges.
If you walk east 10-15 minutes, you'll find yourself in London's East End, & perhaps at Brick Lane - famous for its excellent Indian food! I highly recommend the Jack the Ripper Walking Tour of the East End, held at night & starting from the Tower Hill tube, just about a minute from the flat.
Also nearby (meaning under 15 minute walk) is St Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, The City (financial district), St Katherine's Dock, Shad Thames (riverwalk area with more restaurants & pubs), London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market, & Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. |
