Dormer Cottages are a row of four low roofed terraced cottages dating back to the 1730's. Number 27 is a Grade II listed cottage that how now been fully refurbished as self catering holiday accommodation but still retains its historic charm.
Edith Nesbit, the author of "The Railway Children" is believed to have once lived in the cottages.
At one time the cottages were used as a restaurant and served cream teas in the gardens and the Fairground opposite the cottages was once a Putting Green.
Although the High Street has changed considerably over the years the front view of the Dormers Cottages remains the same as it did 250 years ago.
