This detached farm cottage was originally built in the early 1900s, but had been unoccupied since about 1952. The last people to live in the cottage were Scottish rabbit trappers brought to the Island by local farmers to control vast numbers of rabbits in the 1950s and since that time it has always been known to us as “The Trapper’s House” or “Thie y Ribbeyder” in Manx.

Prices are all-inclusive (no meters to worry about) and, to ensure that you quickly settle into your holiday home, we provide all your bed linen, towels and tea towels, although we would ask you to provide your own beach towels. Children are very welcome with cot and highchair available free of charge. As we try to keep the cottages allergy free, we are sorry but it is not possible to accommodate pets.
So step out of the hectic bustle of modern life and recharge your batteries in this special part of our beautiful Island. Wake up to the sight of sheep and lambs in the fields, the ever changing colours and patterns in the corn fields and maybe a hen harrier hunting the hedges.

| About the Area: |
Our family have lived at Smeale Farm since 1824 and farmed much of this land back to 1515 according to records contained in the Manorial Roll of that date. At the highest point of the farmland sits a tumulus that contained a Viking ship burial dating from around 900 A.D. and in another field there is the site of an ancient keeill (Chapel) thought to date from the 5th Century. There is a feeling of history and continuity here and we delight in sharing our environment with our guests. In 2006 we received the Manx Farm Conservation Challenge “Bronze Chough” Award for excellence in conservation in balance with commercial farming and we are always pleased to show guests around the farm.
