The village of Thorpe has some beautiful areas to explore with stunning scenery of rolling green hills, sheep and cattle grazing and dotted with many magnificent old trees and you can see the views from Thorpe Cottage Country Guest House’s decking area. Explore through the village of Thorpe, past St. Leonard’s Norman church and continue the walk down to the listed Caldwell Bridge, where the River Dove flows gently underneath. The water is so clear and the area is so unspoilt, you can usually see trout swimming along. It’s a very peaceful and relaxing place. If you were to continue along, the walk would take you to the famous stepping stones in Dovedale, of the Derbyshire Dales Peak District. From our private car park, you can walk to the Tissington Trail. This is an unused rail line that is now a superb place to walk or cycle. Plenty of rest stops along the trail and you can follow it to the beautiful old village of Hartington. Pubs, cheese factory & shop, ice cream and quaint shops are all awaiting.
